To meet these needs, Kadlec
Clinic Pulmonology is expanding.
Pulmonologist Naveen Rawat,
MD, joined the clinic in May and
an additional provider is slated
to join the clinic later in the
summer.
Intensive care coordination
Pulmonologists are trained
in internal medicine as
intensive care specialists
before specializing further. This
background is being utilized at
Kadlec Regional Medical Center.
In addition to working in the
clinic, Kadlec pulmonologists
spend time in the hospital’s
Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“Many patients in the ICU have
respiratory failure, and we are
familiar with how to treat it,” said
Dr. Cayetano. “Our expertise is
appreciated and respected, and it
benefits patients.”
In addition, if patients need
follow-up respiratory care, they
can see one of the pulmonologists
as an outpatient at Kadlec Clinic
Pulmonology.
“This collaboration between
areas of the health system allows
for important coordination and
continuation of care for these
patients,” she said.
Education and rehabilitation
component
“With the opening of Healthplex,
our respiratory therapy and
testing is expanding; exercise
and education are important
components of helping these
patients,”said Dr. Cayetano.“People
may not know that many of these
services are covered by Medicare
too.”
